Second Helping reached another important milestone this month when we donated and delivered our one millionth meal equivalent in 2024 to food-insecure individuals in mid-Michigan.
In October, we reached a notable milestone when we eclipsed more than one million pounds of food donated and delivered year-to-date, a notable achievement that reflects our commitment to combating hunger and food insecurity across the region.
“We are extremely pleased that we have achieved critical success and have been able to donate and deliver the equivalent of more than one million meals so far in 2024. That’s more than 3,000 pounds – or 1.5 tons – of food per calendar day on average,” said Michelle Ediva, Director of Hunger Outreach Programs at Second Helping.
“We could not have reached an average daily distribution of more than 3,000 meals without the generosity of our donors, the commitment of our volunteers, our distribution partners across the townships and communities that we serve, and – most of all – the people and households we serve,” she added.
