Hunger Action Month and Second Helping, Inc.

September is Hunger Action Month, perhaps the most important month on the calendar in the global fight against food insecurity.

National Food Bank Day is Friday, September 6.   We greatly appreciate the efforts of the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan (www.fbem.org) and its staff in helping us combat hunger.  We are privileged to live in a country where Feeding America’s food bank network is so committed to addressing inequities such as chronic hunger, malnutrition, and more.

Hunger Action Day is Tuesday, September 10, another important day on the calendar of hunger relief organizations across the country.

“In recognition of Hunger Action Month, Second Helping plans to build upon its recent strong momentum by donating and distributing more than 145,000 pounds of food into the communities we serve,” said Michelle Ediva, Director of Hunger Outreach Programs at Second Helping.”

“We encourage all food pantries, food banks, soup kitchens, and other hunger relief organizations to make Hunger Action Month a critical success in the fight against hunger,” she added.
