Second Helping, Inc. Concludes Food Distribution Events in Montrose Township for 2024

Second Helping today concluded its food distribution events from Montrose Township in 2024, capping off a highly successful year in which more than 190,000 pounds of food were distributed into the greater Montrose community.

Coetta Adams, Montrose Township Supervisor, said “Second Helping provided the equivalent of more than 155,000 meals to area residents in 2024.   That’s a remarkable achievement.  When we consider that recipients also visit our food distribution events held at Montrose Barber Park from other townships, it’s extremely rewarding to see our township emerge as a leader in fighting hunger from our location in northwest Genesee County.  We’re grateful to all volunteers, our township staff, Second Helping, and those we serve.”

Michelle Ediva, Director of Hunger Outreach Programs at Second Helping, added “The area across the M-57/ Vienna Road corridor has been an important hunger relief target for us in 2024.   With more than 155,000 meals donated and delivered by us from Montrose Township and more than 223,000 meals donated and delivered by us in Vienna Township and Clio, that’s more than 378,000 meals to food-insecure individuals from our events in those areas alone.”

“We’ve had people travel from Detroit, Up North, Flint, Lansing, and many other areas to receive food assistance from us in Montrose and Clio.  We’ve also seen quite a few license plates from other states this year.  Hopefully they’re now Michigan transplants who are happy with the assistance we provide,” she added.
